HUG™ has been the feature of a short film, produced by the BBC. Reporter Colette Hume followed the development of HUG and shares the story of Margaret, a resident of Sunrise of Cardiff, and her daughter Alison.

HUG partnership with Alzheimer’s Society
We are delighted to announce our official partnership with Alzheimer’s Society, to ensure HUGs get to the people living with dementia who really need them. We are one of three partners that will be helped via their Accelerator programme, which aims to foster innovative ideas to improve the lives of people affected by dementia. Thank you Alzheimer’s Society!
As part of our partnership we’re delighted to say that a percentage from the sales of HUG goes to the Alzheimer’s Society.

HUG’s Crowdfunding campaign
We had a successful crowdfunding campaign to help get the first batch of HUG into production. We raised nearly £20,000 with over 200 supporters.
HUG wins 2 Tech4Good awards!
Hooray for HUG! Thanks to your support, HUG won both the People’s Award and the Winner of Winners Award for #Tech4Good 2020! The People’s Award was sponsored by Crowdfunder and was won due to the campaign and the overwhelming support from our Crowdfunder supporters. From all of the HUG team, a huge thank you for your support and lovely comments. We are thrilled!

HUG featured in Care Inspectorate Wales report
A new Care Inspectorate Wales report into people living with dementia in care homes, describes HUG as having a ‘positive impact on well-being by improving mood and focus.’ Read more about HUG in the report here

TECH 4 GOOD Awards

HUG by LAUGH™ is a finalist in the Tech 4 Good Awards 2020! We are nominated in the Digital Health category and looking forward to the awards ceremony on 24th September 2020. Wish us luck!
Dememtia Care Awards
HUG by LAUGH™ was selected for the final in the Outstanding Dementia Care Product 2018 category at the National Dementia Care Awards 2018.

HUG by LAUGH™ was nominated by staff from Llys Y Seren, Pobl: Gwalia Care & Support in Port Talbot.
Professor Treadaway said: “We are delighted to have been nominated for this award and to have reached the finals of the competition. The design for HUG was developed from our AHRC research partnership with Pobl Gwalia Care and Support and we acknowledge the important support of residents, staff and management that enabled the design research to take place.”
